Each Igloo diamond is cut in a shop employing master cutters and involves numerous stages of inspection by hand and computerized controls.
Of the resulting diamonds of top quality cut and finish, selected few are then forwarded to the American Gem Society's Laboratories (the AGS) for grading, and only if first found to be within the AGS's strict set of parameters for strict Ideal finish known for their association with top performing diamonds. Those are then issued an AGS «Ideal» grading report. Others, of Ideal, Excellent, Very Good or Good finish are sent to the GIA laboratories, known for their strictest grading standards, for their grading.
The control of the placement, shaping, determination of inclination and final closing and polishing of each of the diamond's numerous facets-57 in the case of a Round Brilliant Cut-- is comparable to playing simultaneous 57 games by one Chess-master player. It requires a high mastery level of the art, the likes of which few possess the world-over. Such are the cutters employed in the cutting facilities, artfully manufacturing the diamonds destined to become Igloo Diamonds, the fiery gem that you may then present to your loved one.
The standards are high, the parameters most restrictive and the resulting diamond represents close to half, and many times less than half, the weight of the rough diamond started with.
